Câmara de Lobos: Our adventure starts on the view point in the colorful fishing village of Câmara de Lobos (Pico da Torre) , where Winston Churchill was once inspired to paint its picturesque bay. This charming town gives you a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of Madeiran fishermen.
Cabo Girão Glass Floor Viewpoint: Next, we visit Cabo Girão, the second highest sea cliff in the world. Step onto the glass-floor viewpoint that hangs over the precipice and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean, Câmara de Lobos, and Funchal. The 580-meter vertical drop will surely give you an adrenaline rush.
Ribeira Brava: We then head to Ribeira Brava, a quaint village known for its beautiful church and river that rages into the sea. Enjoy some free time exploring the charming streets, shops, and the beachfront promenade.
Encumeada: The journey continues up to Encumeada pass, nestled between mountains at an altitude of 1007 meters. Enjoy the serenity and marvel at the panoramic vistas of both the north and south coasts of the island, a spectacle of nature’s grandeur.
Paúl da Serra: Experience the tranquility of Paúl da Serra, Madeira’s largest and most extensive plateau. This area, often shrouded in mist, gives a feeling of being above the clouds. It’s an ideal place for walking and appreciating the unique flora and fauna of the island.
Porto Moniz: Next, we descend to the enchanting village of Porto Moniz, famous for its natural volcanic rock swimming pools that are filled by the tide with crystal clear water. The contrast of the volcanic rocks against the azure sea is a truly spectacular sight.
Seixal: En route to our next stop, we pass the charming village of Seixal. Here we’ll see cascading Bride’s Veil waterfall. It’s a perfect photo opportunity, so keep your cameras ready.
São Vicente: Lastly, we visit the historic town of São Vicente, nestled in a green valley. Explore the cobblestone streets, admire the charming traditional houses, and learn about Madeira’s volcanic past at the Volcanism Centre. Here, we also recommend trying some local pastries.
